{jcomments on}Building has now been completed on the water tower for the young abandoned girls' centre in Burkina Faso. This project was entirely funded thanks to a donation of 3000 € from the Lions Club Erasmus, covering all the building costs.
For 10 years, Chrëscht am Sahel (Christian support for the Sahel), in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, has been supporting the Association Miséricorde pour Tous Cardinal Emile Biyenda (AMCEB) Centre. Currently the Centre provides shelter, during pregnancy or with babies, for about dozen young girls who have been abandoned by their families.
In 2008, the major achievements were to support the operating costs (salaries, water, telephone, secretarial services) and maintenance of the girls received in the Centre with their babies (housing, food, health and obstetrics, hygiene, clothing).
The cost of training (sewing, weaving, soap, vegetable farming and management), education and literacy and visiting costs to families for the reintegrating of the young girls. In addition, as far as infrastructure is concerned, the supply of drinking water at the Centre was secured by the construction and commissioning of a water tower, piping and an electric pump powered by electric energy panels solar photovoltaic. A total of € 48,479 was spent in 2008.
